Astrology Explained

The 14th Dalai Lama

His Holiness is both the spiritual leader and head of state of Tibet. He was born in northeastern Tibet July 6 1935.

He is believed to be the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama, Thubten Gyatso. And he was a direct reincarnation of the 12th, and so on. They are all manifestations of Avalokiteshvara, or Chenrezig; the Bodhisattvas of Compassion, and the patron saint of Tibet.

At 15 years old, on 11/17/1950, he was enthroned as the leader of Tibet. He had the difficult job of trying to evade a full scale military takeover by China, while pacify the growing resentment of Tibetan freedom fighters.

He made a historic visit to China from July 1954-June 1955 for peace talks, and later to India 1956-1957 to participate in the 2500th Buddha Jayante Celebrations. But reports of brutality of the Tibetan people continued to be reported there. On March 17 1959 while consulting with Nechung Oracle he was told to leave the country. He performed a divinity and it also concurred he was to leave the country.

He left Lhasa disguised as a common soldier with a small escort of family and followers. Three weeks later they arrived at the Indian border where they met Indian guards that led them to Bomdila. The government agreed to provide asylum to His Holiness and followers in India. He and the Indian Prime Minister met and spoke of rehabilitating the 30 thousand Tibetan refugees. They were moved to road camps in the hills of northern India. On June 20 1959 the Dalai Lama formally repudiated the Seventeen Point Agreement with China.

His Holiness gives teachings throughout the year all over the world. I've posted an in depth report on his blueprint for those who wish to study this great man.
